Description
The Logistics & Customs Specialist prepares export documents, tracks ocean and air cargo, resolves customs-clearance exceptions and optimizes logistics solutions for high-volume overseas engineering-project shipments.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Source, evaluate and manage freight forwarders and logistics vendors.
- Prepare complete export customs-declaration documents and ensure data consistency.
- Track booking, loading, vessel departure and whole-journey cargo status.
- Handle customs-clearance anomalies, cargo delays and damage claims.
- Calculate logistics costs and support accurate customer quotations.
- Prepare monthly logistics-cost reports.
- Escalate major logistics risks with resolution proposals.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics Management, International Trade or equivalent.
- At least two years of export-logistics and customs-declaration experience.
- Familiarity with ocean-freight export workflows and common customs risks.
- Proficiency in Excel for cost statistics and data forms.
- Basic English for communication with overseas freight agents.
- Ability to handle unexpected cargo emergencies under pressure.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Building-material or heavy-cargo export experience.
- Familiarity with African or European route clearance requirements.
- Customs-declaration-related working certificates.
